The special thing is its size. It is flat and as big as the palm of your hand. This makes it suitable for the most diverse recipes and makes it ideal for frying and cooking. Portobello: A particularly beautiful example

The Portobello mushroom is actually a mushroom that is too large. Due to its brown colouring and its large lamellae, it is also a visual eye-catcher. It is suitable for grilling, is easy to fill and vegetarians and vegans love it as a meat substitute. And the nutritional values are also convincing: it contains many different vitamins as well as the trace elements potassium, iron and zinc. And because of its low fat and high water content, it also has few calories. But the most important thing about the Portobello mushroom: it is very tasty and delicious.

What goes on the perfect burger?
Vegetables, a dark burger sauce and the hearty middle part.
The classic burger consists of airy burger rolls, which you can also easily prepare yourself. In between there is the so-called patty, which is either beef, but you can always choose from other types of meat or vegetables. With gherkins, mustard, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, tomatoes and crispy leaf salad you can make the burger classically round. Instead of a meat patty, just try a Portobello grilled on both sides.

A touch of Japan with the Teriyaki Portobello Burger

The mushroom must be fried for 7-8 minutes on both sides. You can marinate it before, for example in a garlic-oil mixture. But even without marinade it tastes delicious after frying on the grill. For a Japanese burger, mix a sauce with rice vinegar, sugar, garlic, ginger and soy sauce. Caramelise the mixture and add some water if necessary. Put a special mayonnaise on the bottom of your burger buns. Mix a traditional mayonnaise with wasabi. Wasabi is a Japanese type of radish, which scores with its spiciness and a very special taste. With fresh cucumber, crunchy iceberg lettuce and roasted onions you can conjure up a whole new taste experience.

Recipes for Portobello Burger are perfect for trying out. You can marinate the mushroom, eat it raw or cook, grill or fry it unmarinated. For a marinade, simply mix the following ingredients:
1 shallot
3 tablespoons of oil
2 tablespoons dark balsamic vinegar
1 tsp hot mustard
2 cloves of chopped garlic
1 tsp coriander
1 teaspoon liquid smoke or smoked salt

Chop the shallot and garlic finely and mix with the vinegar, mustard, coriander and Liquid Smoke. Liquid Smoke - also known as liquid smoke - is an ingredient responsible for the typical BBQ taste. You can use this ingredient in all kinds of BBQ sauces and easily add a smoky flavour to dishes. Before frying, pour the marinade over the Portobello. Let the Portobello steep for at least 1 hour. This allows it to absorb the aroma perfectly.
