With a length of almost 3000 km, the Danube is the second longest river in Europe. The green landscape through which the Danube flows attracts thousands of tourists to the area every year. In addition to historically and culturally impressive places, there are also stretches along the Danube that are covered by wide meadows and forests. But also hilly landscapes, mountain ranges and large lakes belong to the repertoire of this natural idyll.

The best way to discover this untouched scenery is on a bicycle tour. The Danube cycle path is ideally suited for this. In addition to Germany, it leads through seven other countries and is therefore one of the most popular and best developed cycle paths in the world. It combines sport and leisure in an idyllic nature holiday, which offers the possibility of numerous stops at tourist attractions and well-known cities.

Among the most famous cities along this route are for example Vienna, Passau, Budapest and Linz. In Germany the section in Baden-Württemberg is particularly popular. The Danube cycle path crosses, among other things, the Upper Danube Nature Park, which is visited by more than 25,000 people every summer. The park offers visitors a variety of leisure activities such as climbing, varied circular hiking trails, canoeing and wildlife watching.

However, the Danube cycle path is not only suitable for experienced cyclists. Due to the special facilities, which have quiet and wide cycle paths, the Danube cycle path is also a popular destination for families with small children. However, it is important to pay attention to a regulation when cycling with children.

If your excursion takes you through Austria, all children under 12 years of age are required by law to wear a bicycle helmet. A further offer, which especially families or large groups on the Danube cycle path are happy to accept, is luggage transport. This enables you to carry only the most essential luggage during the day and not to have to carry it heavy.

The luggage is simply transported to the next booked accommodation. Although travel guides and the Internet offer a large number of suggested stages, which cyclists like to choose, one advantage of the bicycle tour on the Danube cycle path is that it can be flexibly adapted to the wishes and abilities of the travellers.
